Gif-Cap: Game 8, Crossover League

Crossover Basketball League (SE2)
Game 8, Sat. 24.10.16
SUTD sports complex

The second matchup between team Booze and EntourageBBall Inc. this season was the total opposite of their first meeting .
Coming off a two-week break, the E.B.I. players seemed more alert and after the now comically routine slow start, dominated the game from the five minute mark onwards.

Leading the league in opponents’ points-per-game (OPP: 36 points ), the men in black & green showed no rust from the long break, forcing turnovers and converting them into transition points.

Tough D = easy breakaway

Forwards Sébastien, Dave and Tolga led by example, hounding opposing players from halfcourt, while new guard Jerel picked off passes and pushed the ball on fastbreaks.

Jerel – Javier – Alex: nice transition play

Leading 40 – 15 at halftime, the still unbeaten Entourage squad settled into a rythm. Even with the Booze defense packing the paint, daring E.B.I. players to take jumpshots; a flawed tactic at best, scoring came easy. Breaking the 80-point mark for the first time this season, all 9 players on the winning team had their moments to shine.

Jerel with a backcourt steal… Swish.

From Mike’s relentless hustle on the boards, to Alex, Jean Baptiste and Tolga bullying their way to points in the paint, sometimes on the second attempt (see below), there were lots of fun moments throughout the game.

Never try to stop a freight train on your own…JB scores

Booze players were nowhere as tenacious as expected, but they were also facing a much improved E.B.I. team 2 months after the first close game between both squads.

Tolga – cleaning the offensive glass

With the playoffs beginning November 19th, Entourage Basketball Inc. (8-0 record) can only be seen as favourites to win the Crossover League championship. A distinction the team is ready to claim and use as added motivation in the final two regular season games and beyond.
